Can All Skin Types Use Oil-Free Products?
There are many good things about oil-free products — they won’t add extra shine to your skin, are less likely to clog pores and are typically light in consistency. Should all skin types be able to use them? We asked the experts.
“All skin types can benefit from using oil-free products although I usually recommend them for acne-prone skin types,” says Garnier consulting dermatologist Dr. Diane Madfes. “However if your skin is dry and you don’t want to use products with oil, look for formulas with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and urea for skin hydration. Both of these ingredients bind water.”
What Are The Benefits Of Using Oil-Free Products?
There are many different reasons to use oil-free products but the most obvious is to avoid adding extra oil onto skin. “Consumers with oily skin generally prefer to use oil-free products in an attempt to avoid extra oils being introduced onto their skin,” says Dr. Angelike Galdi, Chief Scientific Advisor of Garnier SkinActive’s skin care labs. “More importantly, consumers should look for products which are specifically tested and found to be suitable for oily skin.”
